This unbelievably luxurious vintage mink cape coat, is a rich chocolate blue color, and it is in fact called Natural Silver Blue Mink Cape Jacket on its appraisal by B.B. Gilbert, Furrier, dated circa 1954. It has a bit of a stand up collar and no closure. Lined with dark brown satin, and features an embroidered name, "Grace Petter". This is a beautiful investment piece.It will fit any size and is the perfect topper for a prom or evening gala.
Included, it states that the cape was valued at $1500 at that time, and the inflation calculator shows that what cost $1500 in 1954 would cost $11836.51 in 2015. There is also a letter from 1938, from a store, Isador Petter, Furriers, 208 West 30th Street, New York, sent to the owner of the fur, Grace Petter.
It measures about 6' from hem to hem around the neck. The length at the back neck 20". Absolute Mint condition.
